Carlos Bakery

Antique Bakery

The coal-fired brick oven at the Antique Bakery has been in use since 1938.  Primarily a wholesale bread bakery, owner Ivan, bakes about 2500 hand-made loaves every day, seven days a week.  Varieties include whole wheat, semolina, ciobatta, focaccia and panella.

Fiore's 

Opened in 1913 and purchased by current owner, John Amato Sr. in 1965, Fiore's House Of Quality is a Hoboken institutiion.  Fiore's famous "Roast Beef & Mozz" was given the Best Hero award by the Village Voice.  John and his son, John Jr., typically make about 160 pounds of fresh mozzarella daily.

Lisa's

Founed in Monte San Giacomo, Salerno , Italy in 1946, Anthony & Angelo Lisa has been making fresh mozzarella and many other Italian delicacies at his Hoboken location since 1971.  Anthony still lives directly above the store.  Lisa's was named Best Deli, Italian Style, by New Jersey Monthly Magazine.

Grimaldi's Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria

An offshoot of the original Patsy's Pizzeria founded in 1933, you won't find slices served here in one of Zagat's top rated pizzeria's in the NY metro area.  The coal-fired brick oven was designed and built by the owner.

Empire Coffee & Tea Co.

Empire Coffee & Tea has been satisfying caffiene cravings in the NY metro area for over a century.  Empire still has its original location in Manhattan as well as its Hoboken store.  Owners Abbe & Paul roast there own cooffee beans as well.  Named best coffee in NJ by the Newark Star-Ledger.
Lepore's ChocolateSince 1980, Mario Lepore has been making Hoboken's finest chocolate.  Mario is the creator of the Cap'n Crunch Chocolate Bar and the Bear Paw ( Macadamia nut, caramel and white chocolate).  During holiday weeks, he makes up to 500 pounds of chocolate daily, by hand!

5:40 a.m.      Fly out of Wichita
  • Eat a snack at Chicago Airport - will not have time to eat prior to tour - but we can always stop and get a snack or eat whenever we want!

11:40 a.m.   Arrive in NYC!!!!!!
  • Use Family in New York Transportation


12:30 p.m.   Arrive and check in at hotel

1:00 p.m.      Tour NYC with Family in New York Tour Company - 9 hours
  •    Wear comfortable shoes
  •    Warm clothes--jacket or sweatshirt - that you can take off if you get hot.
  •    Cools down in evening

7:00 p.m.  Sal's Pizzeria - Little Italy

11:00 p.m. Junior's Cheesecake
  • (if we do not have dessert at Ferraras Bakery) Right across the street from our hotel.
  • Hours:  M-Th: 6:30 a.m. - 12 a.m, F-S: 6:30 - 1 a.m., Sun: 6:30 - 11 p.m.

2:30 p.m.      Ellis Island

4:30  p.m.      Ride the PATH to Hoboken - WTC and back on 32
  • Visit Carlos Bakery - Cake Boss
  • Hours:  Sun - Wed 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.  Th - Sat  7 a.m. - 9 p.m. 
  • Dinner at Grimaldi's Pizzeria

10:00 p.m.     Walk Times Square




Visit Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral at night - when they are lit up!

No other tours where scheduled here - so that we do not have to be rushed to get through the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island.
